Digitec Galaxus is hiring Software Engineers…
Sorry
I have to say sorry. Normally I really try to avoid any advertisement and that kind of abuse in my blog – so I really have to say sorry that I bother you with an job advertisement for Digitec Galaxus – the company I like to work for.
So if you decide to stop reading at this point – you do have my full understanding. I apologize and hope to see you again on my blog…
Times are just not normal
You may wonder why I am writing a blog about hiring Software Engineers. Well – times are NOT normal. At least this is my perception. Well, I could tell you stories about “war of talents”. I could present the low numbers of graduated SW engineers coming from universities. But that is boring, that is just the “everybody is claiming and blaming” stuff.
We strive for best customer experience – so many ideas are waiting
No, I am writing this blog because times are just crazy. I see so many exciting ideas and themes in our Digitec Galaxus idea box how we can improve customer experience and our services. Just to give you some food for thoughts. In the last very few months
- We developed a PickMup network together with Migros
- We developed a first version of a community – the forum where customers answer and help customers, see for example a community discussion about mobile phones
- We implemented TWINT a new payment option
- We started a large investment theme in our logistics with the goal to increase size, quality and speed of our supply change
- We released a dynamic and self-optimizing promotion system; just have a look at https://www.galaxus.ch/
…and there are twenty or thirty additional terrific ideas in our portfolio that are awaiting realization – that I cannot list here because we want to blow you as our customer completely out of the water with these new ideas…
Do you want to join an outstanding team and organization?
There are two very different aspects why to join a team. First, the objective facts and figures; and second, the emotional, social, team, success and fun side. Both together build the package that motivates (or not).
Overall the hard facts are kind of a hygiene factor. There is not that real a big difference between companies. You get a salary, holidays, education and that stuff.
Isn’t it true: rather it is the emotional side that motivates you to get up in the morning? Something you personally and your team is proud of? A new insight, challenge, learning, success or just fun at work?
So my personal aspects I am working here are
- Very low bureaucracy: We do not get crazy in our bureaus – we rather get crazy about bureaucracy. Low bureaucracy starts with: clothes – no business attire is requested, just feel comfortable. Low bureaucracy includes: we agree about rules and seriously play the rules, but if the rules do not fit anymore then we change the rules – by direct communication and not by a rule defining ivory tower council and tons of documentation.
- We do have conflicts; we have many of them. We treat conflicts as chance to improve. We give fair feedback, respect each other and have an interest to become more efficient and effective – more professional in our responsibility. We do not follow an open door policy; we do not have doors.
- We agreed on values that we strive to live. Read about our values right in our company site. I like especially “piratisch”. What is in your mind if you think about being “piratisch”?
- We at Digitec Galaxus develop in Switzerland. We value that. Read this article written by our CIO about the why and how.
- We have fun together. We play some funny games with our mascots, we fire the barbecue, there is a group of baristas tuning the Italian lever piston espresso machine, Friday evening beer awaits you, there is a Jass round – or you just go home because today you feel like.
- I have trust in my colleagues and I have the feeling this is mutual. I feel safe in this environment although change is continuously approaching everywhere, every day and in every aspect.
OK. I stop here. I confess: I really like my job and I like to be part of this crazy times of development of Digitec Galaxus.

Hey Rainer,
Nice article. IMHO you forgot a really cool project: the retail product displays (in two versions: e-paper and official rpi screen). Also fully in-house developed from idea to deployment.
